Bb. Texture Hair(un)dressing Creme

At Salon K we have been having a lot of fun experimenting with Bumble and bumble's newest product Bb. Texture. A lot of people have been asking how EXACTLY is it going to make my hair look? Well Bumble and bumble's Editorial stylists have been using it for months to create beautiful undone 'dos and we figure it's easier to show you then tell you!

When you wear your hair down it gives a fun textured almost beachy look. We don't have any pictures yet but it also looks amazing on short hair!

Or pull your hair up into a textured-wavy ponytail...

Or twist it into a bun...

Or just have some fun with your hair and thrown it up into a crazy fishtail braid

Or really have some fun and twist it into a modern beehive!

Come try out Bb. Texture today!

Fashion Week hair how-to: sleek ponytail

Bb. Styling Neil Moodie decided to keep the hair sleek and chic at the Max Azria Fashion Show. A perfect style for second-day hair or bad hair days. 1] Spray wet hair all over with prep and then styling lotion. (If you're doing this style on second-day hair skip this step) Blow dry with a round brush.
2] Spray hair all over with spray de mode.
3] Use the classic flat brush to smooth hair back and up into a ponytail at the crown of your head. Secure with a bungee or hair-tie. (look up when you're securing the ponytail to avoid sagging underneath)
4] Wrap a piece of hair around the hair tie. Secure with pins.
5] Spray with more spray de mode. Finish with Bb. shine.

Lovely Braids

What's better then throwing your hair up in a loose beautiful braid? So simple, yet still looks pulled together. Braids are predicted to be big for fall but can't you imagine how cute they'll look with spring colored tops and summer dresses?

Hair Trend: Colored Tips

We introduced Ombre hair to you back in November but the recent crop of ladies sporting the technicolor color job has us falling in love with the trend all over again. We love the rockstar look it's giving. We know dying the tips of your hair isn't a novel suggestion so if this trend is too much try a couple of fun colored clip-in hair extensions. At the Salon we have hair extension pieces in every color, we bond them to your hair with an organic glue, its safe and non-damaging. They last 8-12 weeks, they're $5 each or 2 for $7. Come try them out!

Bb. Texture

Texture. It's what makes everything – people, cities, stories, sweaters, life, hair – more interesting. Bb.Texture hair(un)dressing creme provides an elusive, undone-yet-done quality with a hint of grit, grip, volume, extra lift and a tousled, shine-free finish... a scuffed, second-day style in seconds. It gives a dry, matte finish and builds easily with memory and moldability.
This product is great for anyone (all it takes is the right attitude...and application). Make sure you put it on damp hair, start with a small amount and build. Let sit a minute, then loosen and ruffle, freehand. Apply at roots for extra lift. Use a diffuser for more volume all over.
Here are some cocktail ideas to get you going:
Bb.Texture + Grooming Creme = more moisture and polish for a softer yet still-messy texture with sheen
Bb.Texture + Styling Wax added at ends = flexible detailing plus shine
Bb.Texture + Brilliantine added at ends = more sheen and separation for a more languid, slept-in texture
Experiment. A true original, Bb.Texture never styles the same way twice.

OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection

To celebrate the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, OPI has collaborated with Disney to come out with a nail polish collection of all things pirate. The collection includes six limited-edition polishes each with a quirky, clever name:
Planks a Lot: a lust-worthy purple
Sparrow Me the Drama: a pink that means business
Skull & Glossbones: a gorgeous light gray
Mermaid's Tears: a magical green
Stranger Tides: an unchartered sea of sage
Steady as She Rose: a delicate pale rose shade
Let's not forget about the Silver Shatter, a shimmering silver with a crackled, two-texture silver finish. We have been trying the Black Shatter from the Katy Perry line and love it, the silver should be really fun with this pastel collection. This collection will be available in May.

Fashion Week hair how-to: modern pompadour

This runway look came from Herve Leger's runway. Hair was done by Bumble and bumble stylist Neil Moodie, he wanted the hair to have a sporty feel. He was actually inspired by a woman getting out of the swimming pool and slicking her hair back! We always love hearing where people pull their inspiration from!

1] On wet hair spray Prep and then Styling Lotion all over wet hair.

2] Blow-dry hair using a round brush.

3] Flat-iron the hair, but be careful to not iron it stick straight, leave a curve in the ends of the hair.

4] Take the sides of the hair and brush completely back, leave the front section of your hair free. Apply Bb. Gel on the sides of the hair as well as under the roots of the front panel of hair.

5] Flip the front section of hair forward and backcomb the roots. Flip hair back over the top (where you just applied the gel), secure with pins underneath hair.

6] Finish with Spray de Mode.

Fashion Week hair how-to: messy bun

This hair style is straight from the runway of Behnaz Sarafpour. The hair was done by Bumble and bumble stylist Laurent Philippon. They went for a subtle 60s inspiration that was textured but very romantic. Very big for spring!1] Start by spraying hair all over with Prep then Surf Spray.
2] Blow dry hair using your hands to give hair more texture.
3] Spray hair with Spray de Mode (and more surf spray if needed)
4] Quickly twist up the back for an unfussy, spontaneous style and secure with pins.
4] Pull hair up at the crown for a little bit of volume. Pull some pieces out around your face. Finish with Spray de Mode.

Fashion Week hair how-to: Messy Chignon

Fashion Week is in full force and we have been loving the looks coming down the runway. But of course we love the hair even more! Today we wanted to share a hair how-to straight off the runway from designer Lindsey Thornburg. The hair is by Bumble and bumble stylist Sabrina Michals. She went for a clean updo with a sexy flamenco feel, to show off the low backs of the dresses. 1] Spray Prep all over hair followed Thickening Hairspray and Holding Spray.
2] Creat a deep side part and blow dry straight using the Bumble Classic Flat Hairbrush.
3] Secure the hair in a low, messy chignon on the side with pins.
4] Finish with Bb. Does It All.

Grammy Awards Hair

I love award season, like I've said before, I love seeing upcoming trends and all the beautiful hair! Gold was a huge force on the red carpet from dresses to shoes, toenails and even hair. Blondes are shifting from platinum-ashy to more warm-golden blondes.
Red hair keeps popping up more and more frequently. Love Florence Welchs' orange tone!

Dark hair was all over the red carpet. Apparantally they all got the memo to wear their hair down and wavy, love the center part.

The last big trend I saw was long, straight, exaggerated hair extensions.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from all of us at Salon K! We hope you get to spend the day with someone you love!

BANGS

Bangs are back in full force! There are so many ways to try out this trend so don't be afraid to dive in! If blunt, straight across bangs are too much of a commitment for you try some whispy side fringe. I've also been hearing a lot about clip in bangs, it would be fun to give them a try for the day!

MAC Wonder Woman

I got a text from my sister this morning telling me to look at the MAC website. I was elated when Wonder Woman sprang upon the screen!
DC Comics' most iconic heroine of all time has teamed up with MAC makeup for a collection inspired by Wonder Woman's blue, red and gold bustier leotard, her cunning super power-meets-glamazon charms, and a strong punch of her girl power. MAC's Spring Colour 2011 is the feminine force that saves the day! No nemesis can match her super-sized Mineralize Skinfinish, Eye Shadows, Lipsticks and Powder Blush for this transformation!
Knowing how quickly MAC's limited-edition collections sell out I hurried and scooped up the Mighty Aphrodite Blush, Amazon Princess blush and Emancipation Lipglass. I'll be eagerly waiting at the mailbox until then!

Bb. Styling Creme

Is it a gel? Is it a mousse? No-but it works like both.
Love it for its versatility and simple strength - slick back, add body, lift roots or define curl. The more you use, the more it holds - wet or dry. Styling Creme is a setting medium that works well for many hair types, holding fairly firmly and giving extra texture. People with curly hair love it for definition; it's great for thick, heavy hair when blow-drying, and for combing through short styles that dry naturally. Convinced by Bb. Stylist Vaughn Acord, Bruce Springsteen made the switch from gel to Styling Creme!

3] Draw a deep side part and secure hair into a very low side ponytail
4] Wrap a lock of hair around the ponytail and secure with pins.
5] Mist with Does it All

Lighter Locks

Kate Beckinsale has always been known for her dark, luscious locks, so we were shocked when we saw her trade them in for blonde! But I have to admit she looks stunning as a blonde. Use her as your inspiration to try something new with your 'do this spring. After all, women try an average of 104 hairstyles during their lifetime!

Women of Sundance Film Festival

I love when I see how celebrities dress and do their hair when they come for the Sundance Film Festival, it makes fashion feel a little more realistic and attainable. There were a lot of hats to keep chilly heads warm, like Malin Akerman. Jessica Alba kept it chic and simple by pulling her hair back and adding a headband, while Ashley Olsen let her natural texture show.

Braids were out in full force.
I also saw a lot of ear muffs. Super cute, a great way to stay warm and keep your hair in check.
